Please Excuse..........
Back to Full Blog

Please excuse Slick's absence from Blogstream over the last few days. She was The Mother Of The Bride on Saturday, and is experiencing a mild case of Empty Nest Syndrome. She will hand in a report in a day or two, if she can do so without sobbing. Or turning cartwheels down the road, depending on her frame of mind, which is now slightly warped. Thank you for your support.

RANDY! How you doin' Sweetheart?!? Thanks for the congrats, and I'll pass 'em on to the Happy Couple! He's a good guy and he's crazy about her, and she loves him so much! I have never seen her so happy, and that's all that we could ask for.

Hey PolarB! We are very familiar with the joys of grandchildren, 'cause between T-Bird and myself, we have five! Our newlyweds want to wait a year or two before they start having babies, and that's okay with us! Having children is one thing you don't want to rush into! It's kinda like rushin' into a burning building, or a war zone!

Thank you Miss Lou! I'll pass that on, if they ever come up for air! They've been scarce as hens teeth since they got married. But if I was young and in love I'd be scarce right now, too!

Mom. If you think you have problems try being the mother n law and the sister n law. What will my grandkids call me? Love you lots. You and T-bird looked great at the wedding.

Congrats to the newlyweds! I'm sure it will be a big adjustment to having your children gone. I'm not looking forward to that myself, & I have a few years for that's even on the radar with the older two.

Take your time. The Stream will be here when you feel like blogging again.

Hope your son & step-son are doing better!

Thanks, Daughter-In-Law! Me and T. did clean up pretty good. You looked pretty darned good at the wedding yourself, and everybody said that my son looked great. I give you credit for cleaning him up for it!!!!
Your grandkids had better call you Ma'am! But that would make you the aunt AND a grandma, so, since Grandma is hell and gone better than aunt, they'll call you Grandma. THIS grandma will make sure of that! I'll be Grandma, and since my new son-in-law is my son's stepson........shit. Am I YOUR son's grandma????????? THAT MAKES ME GRANDMA AND GREAT-GRANDMA! I need a drink..........

by Slick (PM , CC ) on Thursday June 26, 2008 @ 3:17 PM

Thank you Cracker! I guess I'll just have to adjust. They love each other, and she is so happy, so I'm happy for them, but I've raised kids for almost 29 years, and now all I'm raising is Hell. But that might be fun too!
Hope you're feeling better after your wreck, and here's a big hug for you!
((((((((((((((((((huuuugggg))))))))))))))!

Thanks Secret! I used to laugh at that whole Empty Nest thing, but I ain't laughin' now! You would think that she moved to another state, but she's maybe three blocks away, so sittin' here pissin' and moanin' is just stupid on my part. Besides, God didn't give me my kids to stay with me forever, they SHOULD have their own lives. Time to shake it off! Maybe pinch T-Bird on the butt, and act like we're kids again! I already had three kids when we got married, so now is the time to have what we missed out on in the beginning------time for just the two of us.
Please remind me later that I said that..........!

<   <<   >>   >

by Slick (PM , CC ) on Thursday June 26, 2008 @ 3:52 PM

It's time & she's only 3 blocks away!

Now you can run around nekkid...you can make love in the living room floor (or whatever place you choose) without worrying about a child coming through! Yeah, go pinch Tbird on the butt!

<   <<   >>   >

by Secret (PM , CC ) on Thursday June 26, 2008 @ 3:54 PM

The only problem with runnin' around nekkid and making love on the livin' room floor is that three of our kids have keys to the house, and we ain't fast enough to avoid blinding a youngun who just comes on in! We've been caught before---twice! But T-Bird has suggested putting chain-locks on the doors and we may do that this weekend. I may put a sign on the door that says:
CAUTION!
Naked Old People.
Enter at own risk!

<   <<   >>   >

by Slick (PM , CC ) on Thursday June 26, 2008 @ 4:24 PM

The sign is a great idea! You can have some freedom in your own house. It's YOUR time to play.
<   <<   >>   >

by Secret (PM , CC ) on Thursday June 26, 2008 @ 4:25 PM

Maybe a sign: IF THE HOUSE IS ROCKIN', THERE"S A WHOLE LOTTA SHAKIN' GOIN' ON.

Oh yes, and congrats to the newlyweds.

"It's YOUR time to play"

It would be nice to play somethin' besides heck all the time! One of T-Bird's friends said that it'll be fun to be able to run around nekkid now that it's just us. He went on to say that HE runs around nekkid when his kids are not home. Says he even goes out in the yard nekkid. He lives waaaaaay out in the country with no neighbors, thank goodness! I think we'll call him BEFORE we ride out to his place. If I see HIM naked, I'll have to poke out my own eyes! EEEEEEEEEEEEUUUUUUUUUUWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!

<   <<   >>   >

by Slick (PM , CC ) on Thursday June 26, 2008 @ 6:38 PM

I'll send the newlyweds your congratulations, Lonewolf! Yeah, there'll be a whole lotta shakin' goin' on! He's 49, and I'm 48, we're both a lttle bit overweight, and if you add wrinkles, EVERYTHING shakes!

by Slick (PM , CC ) on Thursday June 26, 2008 @ 6:57 PM

congrats! No, learn to relax...take some slow breaths and realize that this is what it is like to have some space.

by HeatherScot (PM , CC ) on Thursday June 26, 2008 @ 7:02 PM

Hello HeatherScot! Thanks for the congrats! I'll pass 'em along to the Happy Couple as soon as they come up for air!
"this is what it is like to have some space". Yep, just as soon as they get into their new place----they are staying with his parents----I'll get another full bathroom, a bedroom to put T-Bird's flight simulator and my drafting table in, and a whole 'nother closet to put my stuff in!!!!!!! And I'll have a little extra space in my head to chill with! I'm starting to see perks here!

by Bella (PM , CC ) on Saturday June 28, 2008 @ 7:36 PM

Well, Bella, anything from the 60's, 70's ('specially Southern Rock like Skynyrd, Molly Hatchet, Doobie Bros.) anything Blues, everything Hank Williams Jr. ever did, everything Hank Sr. ever did, almost all of the new country-----mos' 'specially Trace Adkins, and darned near every musical that ever showed up on Broadway. From Kid Rock to Mozart. And, I'm a Parrot-head (Jimmy Buffet), a Dead-head, and I love Joplin and Bob Dylan.
And me and the Hubby are re-connecting after the last kid has left, so we'll be dancin' in a little bit, if you catch my drift! Girl, you have a good weekend, and I'm gonna go visitin' everybody tomorrow!

Thanks, Big Al! I'll recover! Maybe this is my time to do something different with my life. I had three little kids when my husband and I married, so it's been 17 years of child-raisin' together. It's time for us to have some time together, just the two of us.

And the cats. I'm afraid we're gonna be "that crazy old couple with the cats"! But I can live with it!

Nice Pic! Glad you got that behind you, aren't you? Read some of your latest posts, and Girl, YOU have had a lot on you!!
I got "a lot" on me, but I'm trying to lose it!! I am now "Older and Wider".
Don't like it, but that's just the way it is!
Blessings

So you're "Older And Wider", huh? You ain't in that club by yourself! I'm gonna love my extra pounds. I'm gonna cherish and nurture them like they were children. And then THEY will up and leave me too! Hey, it worked with the kids!

I am glad that the wedding is over, I absolutely dreaded it. But the grooms step-mother and her family took over the whole thing so I didn't have much to do with the putting-together. My daughter was happy with all of it, and that's what matters anyway.

Busman, when it came time for my daughter's new husband to take off the garter, she had placed it a little too high on her thigh and I thought we were gonna see more than the Mother Of The Bride wanted seen! But you should have seen the flower girl pickin' her nose and scratchin' up at the altar! My granddaughter. I was so proud!
